A real commitment to people
In these times, where solidarity and mutual support are more necessary than ever, DURAN Solidaris represents our way of contributing to society.
For us, DURAN is not just a company; we are a family that firmly believes in the importance of helping those who need it most. Since we started, our goal has been clear: to support people in vulnerable situations. We are not a large corporation, but a family that humbly devotes time and resources to improving the lives of others. We know that it’s not all about money; time and dedication are also valuable. We are driven by a simple but sincere desire to do good in our communities.
Recently, we spoke with four members of the DURÁN-FELIU family: Marta Durán, Miguel, Sofía and Dolores Feliu. They lead our social initiatives and shared with us their experiences and motivations. Through various actions, DURAN Solidaris seeks to improve people’s lives and strengthen the communities where we are present.
Sofía, Miguel, Dolores Feliu y Marta Durán
Miguel Feliu: The connection between the company and our family has always been strong, and the concern for social welfare has been constant. Our grandfather, Guillermo Durán Cañellas, founder of the company, had a great sense of solidarity and always cared for others. The people who worked in the company were like part of the family, and many of them worked with us all their lives. As children, we saw them as part of our lives, with a close and direct relationship.
Sofía Feliu: We have taken these concerns to the company, and we believe that in any company, people must be prioritised.
Housing construction in India with the Vicente Ferrer Foundation
Piña Feliu Family
Dolores Feliu: One of our most important initiatives is the collaboration with the Vicente Ferrer Foundation to build 23 homes in the Madakasira region of India. This project provides a safe home for families in need and fosters a sense of community and stability in one of the most disadvantaged areas of the country. It motivates us to know that we are improving lives in a tangible and lasting way.
Miguel Feliu: The most gratifying thing about this project is that it is not limited to a simple donation; we involve the DURAN team in the experience. Some have travelled with us to India to see the projects up close, and it has been a transformative experience for them as well as for us. Seeing the impact of our work reinforces our commitment and motivates us to keep going.
Resonàncies amb Talent – Music for young talents
Sofía Feliu: Another initiative we are proud of is the “Resonàncies amb Talent” programme, a violin teaching programme at the Son Canals School in Palma. This project aims to bring music to young talents who otherwise would not have access to quality music education. Music has a transformative power, and we are seeing these young people develop not only their musical skills, but also their confidence and discipline.
Dolores Feliu: This programme demonstrates our belief in the potential of every individual. Music can open doors and offer unique opportunities, and we are committed to giving them the tools they need to reach their full potential. Working with these young people and seeing their progress is incredibly rewarding.
A family tradition
of solidarity
Marta Durán: Our commitment to social responsibility is not something new; it is a tradition that has been passed down from generation to generation. The willingness to help and contribute positively to society is a deeply rooted value in the family and this is reflected in all our solidarity initiatives.
Miguel Feliu: Since our grandfather founded the company, we have maintained the values we inherited. We feel a responsibility to give back to society part of what we have received, and this drives our actions at DURAN Solidaris.
Dolores Feliu: Every project we undertake shows that business success can go hand in hand with a deep social commitment. Our approach seeks not only to improve the lives of the people we help, but also to inspire other companies to do the same.
Medical Smile – Bringing Joy to Hospitals
Jaume Sastre Durán – María Durán, Sofía Feliu, Marta Barrio (Sonrisa Médica) and Miguel Feliu
In addition to our projects in India and Palma, we are also committed to local initiatives that have a direct impact on people’s lives. One of these is our collaboration with Sonrisa Médica, an organisation that brings joy and hope to hospitalised children in Mallorca. Through its team of hospital clowns, Sonrisa Médica transforms the hospital experience into something more bearable and full of laughter. For us, supporting this project is a way to contribute to the emotional well-being of children and their families in difficult times.
Mallorca Preservation – Commitment to the environment
On the other hand, we are also committed to the conservation of the natural environment of our island. We collaborate with Mallorca Preservation, an organisation dedicated to protecting and preserving Mallorca’s natural resources. We understand that people’s well-being is intrinsically linked to a healthy environment, so supporting conservation initiatives is a natural extension of our social commitment. We strive to ensure that future generations can enjoy the natural beauty of the island, while promoting sustainable practices in our community.
Amazonia Foundation
Marta Durán: The development cooperation project began 30 years ago in the Brazilian Amazon, developing projects, initially in health, but now also in education and employment. Since 2004, it has been developing its activity in Bolivia and also dealing with emergencies that have arisen in Central America. It has always counted on the collaboration of the local population, NGOs and local associations.
